A woman’s worst enemy could be considered acne, these blemishes appear and most times, before an important event without our control, they could affect us emotionally, lower our self-esteem and make us view ourselves as “ugly” when it’s far from the truth.

Acne is a disease that attacks the skin, not only on the face; but also, in other parts of the body, such as the back, arms or bottoms. From pimples to blackheads, whiteheads, and cysts. Now, what is the difference between the four?

The difference is as follows: Whiteheads are small white bumps, If a pore is obstructed and clogged under the surface of the skin but protrudes on the skin’s top layer, it turns into a whitehead. When the pore is clogged but remains open, the upper layer may darken due to oxidation of the sebum, thus causing blackheads. Pimples are formed when dead skin cells mix with excess oil (sebum) and bacteria break under the skin (These can turn red after irritation and turn the tip white with pus. Pus is generated as the bodies natural response toward bacterial infection.)

What can we do to care for our skin and reduce the production of these enemies?

To prevent the accumulation of oil that contributes to acne, wash your face up to one or two times a day with a facial cleanser and lukewarm water, lightly dry your face with a towel to prevent irritation on your face.

The makeup, creams, and sun protectant must be “oil free” and “non-comedogenic”. It is also important to cleanse your face every night before bed to remove any makeup and bacteria that accumulated throughout the day, as they may clog your pores. Don’t forget to drink lots of water, as it flushes toxins out of your body. A diet consisting of fruits and vegetables can help you hydrate and give nutrients to your skin. Try to stay away from junk food with high levels of fat, sugar, and oils.
